Terms of Service

Welcome to WeFoundIt. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the WeFoundIt platform, including our mobile applications (Android and iOS), web application, and website at wefoundit.space (collectively, the "Platform").

WeFoundIt is operated by DG Enterprise, located in Buea, Southwest Region, Cameroon. By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

1. Platform Description

WeFoundIt is a lost and found platform designed for users in Cameroon. The Platform enables users to:

  • Report lost items and search for found items
  • Report found items and connect with their owners
  • Communicate with other users to verify ownership and arrange returns
  • Offer and receive rewards for returned items via mobile money

WeFoundIt acts as an intermediary platform connecting people who have lost items with people who have found them. We do not take possession of any items and are not a party to transactions between users.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use WeFoundIt
  • If you are between 13 and 18 years old, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian
  • You must provide accurate and truthful information during registration
  • You must have a valid phone number registered in Cameroon

3. User Obligations

Account Responsibility

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
  • You may not share, sell, or transfer your account to another person

Registration Requirements

  • You must provide a valid name, email address, and phone number
  • You must keep your account information accurate and up to date
  • You may only create one account per person

Acceptable Use

  • Use the Platform only for its intended purpose of reporting, finding, and returning lost items
  • Communicate respectfully with other users
  • Provide honest and accurate descriptions of lost or found items
  • Return items to their verified owner promptly once a match is confirmed
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in Cameroon

4. Prohibited Content and Conduct

You may not use the Platform to:

  • Submit fake reports — posting fabricated lost or found item reports to deceive others or exploit the reward system
  • Commit fraud — falsely claiming ownership of items, manipulating the reward system, or misrepresenting item details
  • Harass others — sending threatening, abusive, discriminatory, or intimidating messages to other users
  • Engage in illegal activity — using the Platform to facilitate theft, trafficking of stolen goods, or any other criminal activity
  • Spam or solicit — sending unsolicited promotional messages, advertising, or commercial solicitations
  • Upload harmful content — sharing malware, viruses, obscene material, or content that infringes on third-party rights
  • Impersonate others — creating accounts or reports under false identities or pretending to be another person
  • Circumvent security — attempting to access other users' accounts, data, or platform systems without authorization

Violation of these rules may result in immediate account suspension or termination.

5. Payment Terms

Service Fee

WeFoundIt charges a 15% service fee on reward transactions processed through the Platform. This fee is deducted from the reward amount before it is disbursed to the finder.

Payment Processing

  • All payments are processed through Nkwa Pay, supporting MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) and Orange Money
  • Reward amounts are set by the item owner when posting a lost item report
  • Payment is initiated only after both parties confirm successful item return
  • You must have a valid mobile money account to send or receive rewards

Refund Policy

  • Rewards are non-refundable once the item return has been confirmed by both parties
  • If a payment fails due to a technical error, we will attempt to reprocess the transaction or issue a refund within 7 business days
  • Disputes regarding payment must be reported within 14 days of the transaction
  • WeFoundIt reserves the right to withhold payments pending investigation of suspected fraud or policy violations

6. Liability Limitations

WeFoundIt provides the Platform on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by Cameroonian law:

  • Item condition — WeFoundIt is not responsible for the condition, quality, or authenticity of items reported on the Platform. Users return items at their own discretion.
  • User disputes — WeFoundIt is not liable for disputes, disagreements, or conflicts between users, including disputes over item ownership or reward amounts.
  • No guarantee of recovery — We do not guarantee that lost items will be found or returned. The Platform facilitates connections but cannot ensure outcomes.
  • Third-party services — We are not responsible for failures, delays, or issues caused by third-party payment processors (Nkwa Pay), mobile network operators, or other external services.
  • Indirect damages — WeFoundIt shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed the total fees you have paid to WeFoundIt in the 12 months preceding the claim.

7. Dispute Resolution

Between Users

If a dispute arises between users (e.g., regarding item ownership, condition, or reward payment), we encourage users to resolve it directly through the Platform's messaging system.

Mediation

If direct resolution fails, either party may request mediation by contacting WeFoundIt support. We will attempt to mediate in good faith, though we are not obligated to resolve user-to-user disputes.

Disputes with WeFoundIt

For disputes between you and WeFoundIt regarding these Terms or the Platform:

  • Step 1: Informal resolution — Contact us at hello@wefoundit.space to attempt informal resolution. We will respond within 14 business days.
  • Step 2: Mediation — If informal resolution fails within 30 days, either party may seek mediation before a mutually agreed mediator in Buea, Cameroon.
  • Step 3: Litigation — If mediation fails, disputes shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction in Cameroon.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Cameroon. Any legal proceedings shall be conducted in the courts of Buea, Southwest Region, Cameroon.

8. Account Termination

Termination by WeFoundIt

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you:

  • Violate these Terms of Service
  • Engage in fraudulent activity or submit fake reports
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
  • Attempt to circumvent platform security or exploit the system
  • Fail to respond to ownership verification requests during disputes
  • Are inactive for more than 24 months

Where possible, we will provide notice before termination and an opportunity to address the issue, except in cases of severe violations requiring immediate action.

Termination by You

  • You may close your account at any time by contacting us at hello@wefoundit.space
  • Upon account closure, your profile and active reports will be removed from the Platform
  • Any pending transactions must be completed or cancelled before account closure
  • Your personal data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy

Effect of Termination

Upon termination of your account, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Sections of these Terms that by nature should survive termination (including liability limitations, dispute resolution, and indemnification) shall continue to apply.

9. Intellectual Property

  • The WeFoundIt name, logo, branding, and all platform content (excluding user-generated content) are the property of DG Enterprise
  • You retain ownership of content you upload (photos, descriptions), but grant WeFoundIt a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content on the Platform for the purpose of facilitating lost and found services
  • You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Platform without written permission

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DG Enterprise, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Platform
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Any content you submit to the Platform
  • Any dispute between you and another user

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make changes:

  • We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
  • For material changes, we will notify you via push notification, email, or an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect
  • Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms
  • If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Platform and close your account
