How does the smart matching work?

When you report a lost or found item, our algorithm compares it against all existing reports using category, document numbers, serial numbers, color, brand, model, and location. If the confidence score reaches 70% or higher, both parties are notified.

How do I pay the finder's reward?

Once a match is confirmed, you can pay the finder's reward directly through the app using MTN MoMo or Orange Money. The platform takes a 20% service fee, and the finder receives the rest instantly.

Is WeFoundIt free to use?

Yes! Reporting lost or found items is completely free for individual users. You only pay when you choose to reward a finder. Institutions can subscribe to premium plans starting at 25,000 XAF/month.

Can institutions like police stations use WeFoundIt?

Yes! Police stations, bus parks, universities, and hotels can register as institutions with bulk item registration, a dedicated dashboard, analytics, and priority matching.

What if I can't find a match right away?

Your report stays active for 30 days. Our matching algorithm runs every time a new item is reported, so you'll be notified automatically if a match appears later. You can also boost your report for more visibility.

How do I prove an item is mine?

When you claim a found item, you may be asked to provide proof of ownership, a receipt, a photo of you with the item, the serial number, or a description of unique features. This protects finders from false claims.

Is my personal information safe on WeFoundIt?

Absolutely. Your phone number and email are never shown to other users, they are automatically obscured. All communication happens through secure in-app chat. We never share your data with third parties.

How much does it cost to collect a found ID document?

The collection fee for any identification document (CNI, passport, driver's license, student ID) is a flat 3,000 XAF. Pay in person at the partner location when you pick up your document.

How do finders earn rewards on WeFoundIt?

When a finder registers a found item and it's matched with an owner, the owner pays a reward. The finder receives 85% of the reward instantly via MTN MoMo or Orange Money. Default rewards range from 2,000 to 20,000 XAF depending on item type.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using any WeFoundIt service (mobile app, web app, or landing site), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use our platform.

2. Platform Description

WeFoundIt is a multi-module community platform operating in Cameroon. One account provides access to:

Lost & Found: Report lost items, register found items, connect with finders/owners
WeFood: Discover and order food from local restaurants and vendors
WeSell: Buy and sell goods in a local marketplace
WeHire: Find and hire service providers, or offer your skills
Delivery: Request deliveries or earn as a delivery driver
WeGive: Donate items or request donations from the community

3. Account Rules

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account
You must provide accurate information during registration
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
One person may hold one account (duplicate accounts will be suspended)
Accounts may be suspended or terminated for violating these terms

4. Module-Specific Terms

4.1 Lost & Found

Reports must be truthful. Filing false reports is grounds for account suspension.
WeFoundIt facilitates connections but is not responsible for items' condition or return.
Rewards are optional and set by the item reporter. Platform fee applies to paid reunions.
Found items registered by institutions remain their responsibility until collected.

4.2 WeFood

Vendors/restaurants are responsible for food quality and safety.
WeFoundIt is a marketplace connecting buyers and sellers, not a food provider.
Commission rates: 10-15% on completed orders (varies by volume).
Cancellation policies are set by individual vendors/restaurants.
Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees.

4.3 WeSell (Marketplace)

Sellers must accurately describe item condition, including known defects.
Platform fee: 20% on completed sales. Seller receives 80%.
Buyer contact information is revealed only after payment.
Disputes are handled through the platform's dispute resolution process.
Prohibited items: weapons, illegal substances, stolen goods, counterfeit products.

4.4 WeHire (Services)

Service providers set their own rates and availability.
Platform fee: 10% on completed jobs. Provider receives 90%.
WeFoundIt does not employ service providers. They are independent contractors.
Reviews must be honest and based on actual service received.
Providers must not engage in illegal or unsafe practices.

4.5 Delivery

Drivers are independent contractors, not WeFoundIt employees.
Drivers must have appropriate vehicle documentation.
WeFoundIt is not liable for damage to items during delivery.
Delivery fees are set by drivers for standalone requests, or calculated by the platform for food/marketplace orders.

4.6 WeGive

Donations are free. No fees apply.
Charity organizations may apply for verification status.
Donors are responsible for the accuracy of item descriptions.
WeFoundIt does not guarantee the quality of donated items.

5. Payments

All payments are processed through MTN MoMo and Orange Money via Fapshi.
WeFoundIt does not store your Mobile Money PIN.
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis through the dispute process.
Commission payouts to vendors/providers are processed within 48 hours of order completion.
All prices are in XAF (Central African CFA franc).

6. Prohibited Conduct

You may not:

Use the platform for illegal activities
Post false, misleading, or fraudulent content
Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
Attempt to circumvent platform fees
Create multiple accounts or impersonate others
Scrape, crawl, or automate access to the platform
List prohibited items (weapons, drugs, stolen goods)
Manipulate reviews or ratings

7. Content Ownership

You retain ownership of content you create (photos, descriptions, reviews). By posting, you grant WeFoundIt a non-exclusive license to display and use your content for platform operations.

8. Limitation of Liability

WeFoundIt is a technology platform that connects users. We are not liable for:

The condition, quality, or safety of items, food, or services
Actions of other users (buyers, sellers, providers, drivers)
Loss or damage during delivery
Disputes between users (though we provide mediation tools)
Service interruptions due to technical issues

9. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time from Settings > Delete Account. Termination does not release you from obligations arising from transactions completed before termination.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cameroon. Disputes will be resolved through mediation first, then through the courts of Cameroon if mediation fails.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms as our platform evolves. Significant changes will be communicated via push notification or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
