Lost and Found in Cameroon, The Complete Guide (2026)

Every year, thousands of Cameroonians lose identification documents, phones, wallets, and personal items. Until recently, recovering them was nearly impossible, you'd file a police report, hope for the best, and usually end up paying for expensive replacements.

WeFoundIt changes that. We're a digital platform that connects people who've lost items with those who've found them, using AI-powered matching, partner collection points, and transparent pricing.

The Lost and Found Landscape in Cameroon

Cameroon has 29 million people and 31.5 million mobile connections. Items get lost in taxis, bus parks, markets, universities, and public spaces every day. The most commonly lost items are:

  • National ID Cards (CNI), the most critical document for daily life
  • Driver's Licenses (Permis de Conduire), expensive to replace (15,000-25,000 XAF)
  • Student IDs, needed for exams and campus access
  • Phones, Samsung, Tecno, Itel, iPhone
  • Wallets, with cash, cards, and documents

Traditional Methods (Slow and Expensive)

1. Police Declaration (Déclaration de Perte)

Filing an attestation de perte at the commissariat is the first step. Cost: Free to 2,000 XAF. But this only helps with replacement, it doesn't help you find the original.

2. Radio Announcements

CRTV and local FM stations read lost-and-found announcements. Effective but slow and limited reach.

3. Word of Mouth

Asking around at bus parks, taxi stands, and markets. Hit-or-miss.
